Raquel Bernedo TSC Application - 2020-03-10

Name
Raquel Bernedo (@berpita)

Organization
Spanish Red Cross (SRC)

What contributions (e.g., issue triage, tech support, documentation, bug fixes) have you made to the ODK or ODK-X community?
SRC has developed and provides ODK trainings at domestic and international level. Furthermore SRC encourages other National Societies the use of these tools and has included ODK in many projects in SRC delegations and international emergencies. Also, SRC has piloted in Greece the RC2 Relief Tool created by the UoW, with ODK-X, and has worked together with the UoW and IFRC - Panama, to improve the tool before its final release. SRC is trying to work towards the creation of a ODK-X training for end-users, so participants can learn about the creation of forms, servers set-up, etc.

How do you believe your contributions have benefited ODK or ODK-X?
SRC has helped to promote the use of ODK as one of the preferred Mobile Data Collection Tools in the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and this, together with the work in ODK-X, has helped to bring some fundings to work on both tools.

What do you believe the top priorities for ODK-X are?
To create trainings and learning documentation for end-users so more people can get engage with the tool. And also, disseminate the tool so more people can know it and start showing interest.

How will you help the ODK-X community accomplish those priorities?
SRC is part and co-lead the Mobile Data Collection Working Group at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) together with American Red Cross and IFRC. One of the top priorities of the WG is to disseminate ODK and ODK-X, by creating MDC trainings, forms repositories, encouraging the use of RC2 Relief Tool that was created by the UoW, etc.

How many hours a week can you commit to participating on the TSC?
2

What other mobile data collection projects, social good projects, or open source projects are you involved with?
In Spanish Red Cross, we work with several open source tools to response the information management needs coming from the SRC delegations and/or international emergencies. Among these tools, we use: Pentaho, a business intelligence SW that can perform ETL processess, creation of dashboards, reports, etc., QGIS for GIS spacial analysis, and we are also applying to new projects to be able to have open APIs with emergencies services that could be used at domestic level. Also we are in the process of becoming members of Missing Maps; a project to map vulnerable communities through OSM (Open Street Map) and with HOT (Humatinarian OSM Team).
