Troubleshooting installing ODK 2.0

Hi,

I am following the directions here (ODK-X documentation — ODK-X Docs) to install ODK Survey on a Galaxy Tab SM-T230, Android v4.4.2

I am able to get through to the heading “Launching with a Different AppName” but when I drag the ODK Survey Form widget onto my home screen, and I select the “myapp” application, I am not able to open it. When I click on “myapp” I get a message “Application not installed”

I’ve tried re-starting but same thing.

I’ve also noticed that when I open up the File Explorer on my desktop and the device is connected, the file names and paths don’t seem to look right. I am ultimately trying to transfer a form I created using ODK Scan following the instructions here: ODK-X documentation — ODK-X Docs

However the filepath it tells me to drop the .json file in (opendatakit > tables>config>scan>form_templates) doesn’t exist, and I don’t see a “scan” folder anywhere.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

In terms of creating a widget using the app name “myapp”, you should be
able to do this with Survey rev 208. Using the OI File Manager app or adb,
make sure that the contents of the /sdcard/opendatakit/myapp directory
match the contents of the /sdcard/opendatakit/default directory.

However, if your end goal is to work with Scan, you will want to use the
default app name and the /sdcard/opendatakit/default directory as Scan does
not currently support running other app names at this time. Also, please
use the latest instructions for Scan (
ODK-X Documentation — ODK-X Docs).
Scan rev 126 is not be compatible with the rev 208 version of the tools.
