ODK 2 TSC Election - 2018-09-03

Now that the ODK 1 TSC election is over, the Project Management Committee (@PMC) would like to start the process of selecting the inaugural members of the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) for ODK 2 (Application Designer, Services, Survey, Tables, and Suitcase).

If you have a technical background, this is your chance to step up as a volunteer leader, help influence the direction of ODK 2. If you are interested in this opportunity or the process, read on for more important information.

The PMC will solicit applications from now through Oct 1st with the web form below. On Oct 2nd, the PMC will post the text of the applications on this forum so the community can ask public questions of the candidates until Oct 16th. On Oct 17th, the PMC will begin internal discussions for one week and then announce the initial TSC members on Oct 25th.

So to summarize:

  • Sep 03, 2018 - Oct 01, 2018: Call for applications
  • Oct 02, 2018 - Oct 16, 2018: Call for public questions
  • Oct 17, 2018 - Oct 24, 2018: PMC discussion
  • Oct 25, 2018: Results announced

The term for the ODK 2 TSC is 1 year, and minimum time commitment is 2-4 hours per month for TSC meetings. Asynchronous email discussions are also likely to consume a few hours a month.

An ideal candidate would spend more time than that consistently participating in the community to contextualize the technical decisions the committee has to make. Other than meetings, the specific activities you may perform as a TSC member will vary based upon your unique skills and interests.

The roles and responsibilities of the TSC are described in detail at TSC Governance. Please read the entire document before applying.
