I have a similar issue but I have Gruntfile in app designer folder but when I type in “grunt” in terminal I get an error feedback as “a valid Gruntfile could not be found”. I didn’t install android studio, I installed only android command line tool, could that be the problem ? Do I need to install android studio before I can use app designer ? @elmps2018 @RJP

I’d also encourage you to add a real picture as your avatar because it helps build community!
Please make sure you have set up all the pre-requisites for app designer here. A particularly common problem is that you may need to change path/environment variables.
and then follow the steps here too to get to the right spot.
