Raquel Bernedo (@berpita)
Spanish Red Cross (SpRC)
What contributions (e.g., issue triage, tech support, documentation, bug fixes) have you made to the ODK community?
SpRC has been involved in mobile data collection for 4 years. Since then, SpRC has used ODK in many emergency deployments on the field, has also piloted ODK 2.0 in Greece with the RC2 Relief Tool and has tested the tool with different scenarios after improvements. SpRC is creating user-materials for creating forms and using ODK tools (Briefcase, Build, Aggregate, etc.) to be able to share them with the community and has developed online training for volunteers and staff. SpRC has also contributed with field experience.
How do you believe your contributions have benefited ODK?
Field experiences are very important from a user perspective to know what things work better and which ones do not, and to think of many scenarios that need different features and ways of setting up the MDC projects.
What do you believe the top priorities for ODK are?
Make ODK compliant with the different Data Protection Regulations so the personal data collected by ODK is secure.
How will you help the ODK community accomplish those priorities?
SpRC (together with other partners in the Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies, as American RC or IFRC) is applying some call for proposals to obtain funding and/or collaborations to develop new open-source tools using ODK and ODK 2.0, adapting these to the GDPR.
How many hours a week can you commit to participating on the TSC?
What other mobile data collection projects, social good projects, or open source projects are you involved with?
SpRC also works with Pentaho for the development of tools and dashboards.
